This is Cornwall --A celebration of the rural heritage of an area more famous for its industrial past tempted bumper crowds at the weekend.
The Camborne Show was hailed as the best ever by organisers, despite a dramatic episode in which a shire horse that collapsed in the heat had to be lifted by a crane.
Treasurer David Trease said the show had been a huge success, although he believed numbers were slightly down on last year because of the hot weather.
"It was a great day," he said.
"Last year had a record attendance because it was a dry day after so many wet days. This year I think the heat put the frighteners on some people.
"You can't win!"
Chairman Colin Webb said: "I had the opportunity to talk to three judges who described it as one of the best ever agricultural shows they had ever seen."
Show organisers declined to comment about the shire horse, which firefighters using a crane took an hour to lift. The horse was treated by vets on site and is understood to be recovering. Reported by This is 1 hour ago.
