Cooler summer causes drop in power consumption

SaskPower has seen a 5 per cent decrease in demand this year

Despite the fact that many are missing the heat of summer this year, SaskPower says the cooler weather could be saving you money this year.

The province has used five per cent less power in July of this year as compared to the same time in 2012. The drop is likely thanks to less need for air conditioners and fans running in our homes, schools and shopping centres.

Tyler Hopson with the Crown Corporation says he can't be sure whether or not it will help their bottom line.
