Geoff Cameron: US won't fear World Cup heat ... England might This is Staffordshire -- GEOFF Cameron says he has no reason to fear the altitudes and temperatures of Brazil, but perhaps England should. The Stoke City and United States defender watched the draw come through on television at home this afternoon with his family, who are over to visit from Boston. He saw his side pulled out in Group G along with Germany, Portugal and Ghana. That will mean matches in Natal, Recife and Manaus, the Amazonian city where Roy Hodgson's England team will open their campaign against Italy. Some pundits are already panicking about whether England's pampered players will be able to cope with the heat and humidity of that venue. But Cameron said: "I'm from America, man. I can run anywhere! "I think I'm a pretty fit guy and I'm used to playing in the MLS and we got to play at altitude in Colorado and Utah and all that kind of stuff. I think we'll be fine. "Wherever we train we'll get used to the heat although I'm used to playing in Houston, Texas, with 90-100F weather. That shouldn't be a problem for me. Adjusting straight from English weather, especially Britannia Stadium weather, might be a little different! "Maybe it could make a difference to English players. I know when we played at Houston in pre-season some of the guys felt it pretty difficult to play in the heat and humidity, or even in Dallas. They got a good taster there. "We've all got a month from the end of the season to get adjusted. Our season finishes in May and I'm hoping to go straight from there to the camp." But can a European country lift the trophy? Cameron laughed: "I don't care about a European country winning it! There's only one team I want to win it and they're American! "As a United States player we're going in there to turn some heads. We've had a pretty good year, winning against a lot of good teams; we're not a walk in the park team anymore. "Hopefully the manager (Jurgen Klinsmann) is watching and hopefully he's been impressed. "Whether I'm playing right-back or centre-back or defensive centre-mid for the national team I will be happy to just get on the pitch." Cameron, who could be joined by clubmate Brek Shea, is certainly excited about upcoming tournament, but he is taking nothing for granted about his call-up. He said: "It's a one chance in a lifetime to play in a World Cup. It's been a dream for a very long time and I'm not there yet. We've still got a few months left in the season that count. "I've got to get my head down, keep practising, keep performing and hopefully I'll be on the roster." Reported by This is 15 hours ago.
