Our pick of the star's most memorable film performances. What else deserves to be on the list?

Since rising to prominence in the mid-90s, Sandra Bullock has been the go-to actor for a certain kind of likeable female lead. In The Heat, a new comedy from Bridesmaids director Paul Feig, she plays a talented but socially inept FBI agent – which sounds like exactly the kind of part you would cast Sandra Bullock in.

Here's our pick of five of the star's greatest moments in film. What are we missing though? Let us know in the thread below.

*1. Demolition Man*

Sandra plays Lieutenant Huxley – her name's a nod to the film's Brave New World-esque setting, a utopian future in which undesirable behaviour has been virtually eradicated. Enter Sylvester Stallone, a 20th century cop taken out of cryongenic storage to catch a rampaging criminal.

*2. Speed*

There's a bomb on a bus! If it slows down to below 50 mph it'll blow up! Sandra Bullock's got to drive it! More than just Die Hard on a Bus, Speed was one of the best action films of the 90s, with Sandra providing some much needed relief from the excessive testosterone brought on board by the male leads.

*3. Miss Congeniality*

A perfect vehicle for Sandra's talents – she plays a talented but socially inept FBI agent (which rings a bell) who has to go undercover at a beauty pageant, and undergoes a geek-to-chic transformation.

*4. Practical Magic*

This frothy comedy-drama about a family of witches is possibly not to everybody's taste, but is loved by a dedicated few. Practical Magic identified what the very best thing about having magical powers is: the ability to mix cocktails without using your hands.

*5. Crash*

Sandra took on a much heavier role in Paul Haggis's feted look at racial and social tensions in LA.
