Even hotter days ahead in Bay Area

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the region Tuesday and Wednesday, warning of record temperatures that could push 90 degrees along the coast and 100 degrees inland. The heat comes as a high-pressure system parks itself above the region, allowing warm air from the state's interior to move in. Drink plenty of water, don't leave pets or kids in the car and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. The Bay Area Air Quality Management District issued Spare the Air alerts for Monday and Tuesday - and left open the possibility for Wednesday and Thursday as well - warning that the amount of ozone will likely exceed federal safety standards.
