Canadian group with a hard-worn folk bent...Canada is a vast, sprawling, almost implausibly huge country.
So when Nils Edenloff needed to escape, the songwriter had plenty of options. "Last spring, I rented a remote cottage up in the Bruce Peninsula on the recommendation of some friends to try to do some writing for the new album," he reminisces. "It turned out to be a pretty terrifying place to be alone with your thoughts - locals told me to watch out for black bears, the heat wasn’t working and at night it sounded like the cottage was surrounded by wolves. I slept with a pocket knife at arms-reach."
Through all this, though, Nils was able to construct some deeply evocative material. Suffering for his art, the songwriter responded with perhaps his most vital, engaging work yet.
Returning to *The Rural Alberta Advantage*, the group set about fleshing out these constructions. New album 'Mended With Gold' will be released on September 29th, with Clash able to preview the material with a special premiere.
